Up todate, it is the most spreaded and strongest technology, with the most extensive applications.
Along the time, other derivated technologies have developped in order to get different versions which improve their different possible and real usages in industry.
The nominal voltage is 1,2 V/cell.
They can be associated in series or in parallel to form batteries. The number of associated batteries though is limited |
- Nickel-Metal Hydride accumulators (Ni/MH)

More recent than the previous ones, this technology increases in around 30% - 40% the capacity of the traditional Ni/cd.
There are, besides, accumulators whose technology has been adjusted for specific services such as charge cycling or fast discharge.
The nominal voltage is 1.2 V/Cell.
They can be associated in series or in parallel to form batteries. The number of associated batteries, in this case also, is limited

- Rechargeable Ion-Lithium accumulators (Li-Ion)

It is the most recent technology. Its benefits make it irreplaceable in those applications where weight, capacity or temperature ranges are important.
The nominal voltage is 3.6 C/cell.
The lithium batteries incorporate a protection circuit which covers them against any possible unintentional or voluntary misuse.
They can be associated in series or in parallel to form batteries keeping always in mind that the number of parallels is limited.
